Initial Lactation Consultation

$350 Self-pay fee plus travel fee if applicable (1.5 hour home or telehealth visit)

Travel Fees – We travel to Nassau and Suffolk county. Travel fees are based on the distance from my home service area and help account for round-trip travel time and associated travel expenses. Current travel fees are $25 for locations within 0–10 driving miles, $50 for 11–20 driving miles, $75 for 21–30 driving miles, and $100 for 31–40 driving miles. Locations beyond 40 driving miles may be considered on a case-by-case basis. Your applicable travel fee will be confirmed prior to your visit. Please note that travel fees are separate from self-pay consultations and will not be reimbursed by insurance companies.

Our Initial Lactation Consultation provides comprehensive, personalized support for you and your baby as you begin your breastfeeding journey. Whether you’re experiencing challenges or simply want reassurance that everything is going well, this session offers the guidance, education, and confidence you need to meet your feeding goals.

What to Expect:

During this 90 minute visit, your International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) will:

• Take a full health and birth history for both you and your baby to understand your unique situation.
• Observe a feeding session to assess latch, positioning, milk transfer, and baby’s feeding behavior.
• Weigh your baby before and after feeding (if in-person) to measure milk intake and growth.
• Evaluate your breasts, nipples, and milk supply.
• Address any concerns such as nipple pain, engorgement, plugged ducts, or low supply.
• Provide evidence-based education on breastfeeding techniques, positioning, pumping, and milk storage.
• Perform an oral exam of the baby
• Collaborate with you to create a personalized feeding or pumping care plan tailored to your family’s needs and goals.

What’s Included:

• Both initial and follow up appointments include one week of messaging support. Messages with complex inquiries necessitating a back-and-forth discussion may require a follow-up consultation. If you are still experiencing challenges after one week of messaging support it is recommended to make a follow up appointment. Your consultation includes a customized care plan with tips, recommendations, and referrals. It also includes resources tailored to you and your babies needs and a detailed report faxed to your pediatrician.

Follow-up Lactation Consultation

$250 Self-pay fee plus travel fee if applicable (1 hour home or telehealth appointment)

Sometimes one visit isn’t enough—and that’s okay. Our Follow-Up Lactation Consultation with an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) provides continued, focused support as you implement your care plan and move closer to your feeding goals.

This session is designed to build on your initial consultation by reassessing feeding progress, addressing new or ongoing concerns, and refining your plan as needed. We’ll evaluate latch and milk transfer, review milk supply changes, troubleshoot pumping or bottle-feeding challenges, and provide hands-on guidance as your baby grows and feeding patterns evolve.

• Follow-up care is ideal if you’re:
• Working through nipple pain or healing challenges
• Increasing or regulating milk supply
• Managing pumping or returning to work
• Navigating supplementation or weaning
• Supporting feeding after a tongue-tie release
• Adjusting feeding plans as your baby develops

Lactation support is not one-size-fits-all, and ongoing care can make a significant difference in long-term success. With expert guidance from an IBCLC, follow-up visits offer reassurance, accountability, and personalized adjustments—so you don’t feel like you’re figuring it out alone. Consistent support leads to confident feeding.

During this one-on-one session, we’ll discuss what to expect in the first hours and days after birth, how milk production works, and how to recognize effective feeding. We’ll cover positioning and latch basics, creating a feeding plan that fits your birth preferences, and how partners can provide meaningful support. Time is also dedicated to addressing individual concerns such as previous breastfeeding experiences, breast or nipple anatomy, planned inductions or cesarean births, returning to work, pumping, or supplementation.

Each consultation is personalized, evidence-based, and judgment-free, empowering you to make informed feeding decisions that align with your goals. Whether this is your first baby or you’re hoping for a smoother experience this time, prenatal lactation support can reduce stress, build confidence, and help you feel ready to feed your baby from day one.
